Blue Brushstroke Italian Ceramic Vessel
Campagna, Italy
Handmade ceramic vessel by an Italian ceramist, found at a show in Paris. The piece has a rounded, hand-wrought form with an irregular rim and visible surface texture. Painted in loose cobalt and pale blue brushstrokes over a soft white ground, it has a sculptural presence and works as a vase, decorative vessel, or standalone object.
Curator Notes
I was drawn to this piece because it feels both primitive and cool. It has weight, but the blue gives it air. It feels like something you might have found in a seaside house, not because it is beachy, but because it understands sun, water, and rough surfaces.
