Cobalt Blue Incised Terracotta Vase

$225.00

An elongated terracotta vessel whose vivid cobalt glazing emphasizes bold incised geometric marks. The incisions give the glazed surface texture as well as pattern, balanced by a tall neck and rounded body.

Curator’s Notes

I chose it for that depth of blue and for the incisions: ornament made directly into the surface rather than added afterward.

Details

Material: Terracotta with cobalt blue glaze
Dimensions: H 17" × W 5" (maximum)
Condition: Excellent
Marks: Unmarked
Additional Details: Origin and period: Possibly Italy, 1950s
