In 1971 I traveled back and forth on Route 7 from Saratoga Springs to Bennington, VT.

While this piece is not from Bennington Potters there was a community of ceramists who were attracted to the area and displayed their wares, often right along the road.

I was attracted to this piece because of the contrast of the rugged material with the refined vertical fluting of its texture. The grayed blue color works as a neutral background for any colorful flower.

This piece has traveled from city to city in its lifetime, held flowers for many occasions. Let the next occasion be yours.
