A handsome pair of rectangular lacquer boxes with richly patterned surfaces resembling burled wood. Warm amber, cognac, and deep brown tones create an intricate, organic pattern beneath a polished finish, while the black lacquer interiors provide a striking contrast.
The two boxes share the same decorative treatment but differ in proportion, creating an appealing composition when stacked or arranged separately. Their restrained geometric forms balance the richness of the surface, offering both practical storage and decorative presence.
Equally at home on a desk, dressing table, or among a collection of books and objects, they bring warmth and polish to a contemporary or traditional interior.
Sold as a set of two.
Curator’s Notes
I was drawn to the contrast between the simplicity of the boxes and the richness of their burled wood pattern. There is a wonderful tension between the disciplined rectangular forms and the irregular, almost painterly surfaces.
I particularly like them stacked, where the variation in their proportions becomes part of the composition. They are the sort of useful objects that can hold their own among more important decorative pieces.
