Contemporary Israeli Ceramic

Dish by Yaffit Eilat, Jerusalem, Israel

When one thinks of Israeli ceramics, brightly colored patterns with a Mediterranean influence come to mind. There is, however, a modernist movement in Israel exhibited in both ceramics and jewelry

This piece combines the qualities of painting, ceramics, and jewelry. The clean lines of the concentric circles remind us of the simplicity of modern color field paintings, the matte black finish with metallic detail hearkens to contemporary ceramics and the glass center is almost jewelry like.

An integrated string on the back of this signed piece allows you to hang it as art or simply place it on a table and let it sparkle.
